Looking to save money at the pump? What if we here at Taylor Hyundai said you could avoid the pump all together in the near future? That's the goal Hyundai has in developing a new version of its ix35 crossover (known here as the 2012 Hyundai Tucson) that runs entirely on hydrogen fuel cells.

Hydrogen fuel cells? They're an emerging technology in the automotive world that produce only water from the tailpipe as a byproduct of driving. There are no carbon emissions to be found here, which makes them one of the greenest automotive platforms out there.

"The ix35 Fuel Cell is the pinnacle of Hyundai's advanced engineering and our most powerful commitment to be the industry leader in eco-friendly mobility," said Vice Chairman Woong Chul Yang, head of Hyundai R&D. "Zero-emissions cars are no longer a dream. Our ix35 Fuel Cell vehicle is here today, and ready for commercial use."1

And that's precisely what Hyundai plans to do with it first. The South Korean automaker is currently preparing to manufacture roughly 1,000 ix35 Fuel Cell Vehicles for public and private lease this December. After evaluating the use of each one, Hyundai then plans to make an appropriate transition into mass production.

Moving forward, everyone at Taylor Hyundai will be keeping a close eye on the release of the ix35 Fuel Cell Vehicle. The moment we hear anything about it being available here at 12681 Eckel Junction Road, Perrysburg, OH 43551, we'll be sure to update our blog. Of course, if you want to avoid the hassle of having to check in here on a regular basis, you can subscribe to future updates through your RSS reader.
